Symbol 48’ Long Range Classic Pilothouse, the Passagemaker hull form:

“Mid ship P. & S. fin keels”, mid ship fin keels (mid ship

hydro-fairing appendage) will drive the water flow through

propeller with cleaner and less turbulence stream; increase

stability when under way.

Advantage of bulbous bow”,

Bulbous bow tends to decrease the wave height, which

created by the hull itself as the boat traveling through the

water. In addition, it’ll make the water line longer. Both

result less resistance, higher propulsion efficiency and

 less pitching.

lHer long and slender bow design constitutes a fine entry. Her forward round-bilge with steep dead-rise angle reduces the slamming. Her slightly convex hull at stern allows the narrower transom line at water level.

lShe has a hard and soft combined chine. The chine at the entire bow section is above the water’s “under-way” wave contour thus it pushes up relatively smaller bow wave with less resistance under power. (Please refer to the attached photo xx of her sister ship.)

lHer low ballast ratio tends to reduce the roll acceleration so makes the ride motion more comfortable.

lIn addition to her long center keel, her fixed twin amid-ship sectional bilge keel provides even better roll attenuation and enhanced directional stability.

lHer large center rudder and propeller are protected by a large skeg.

lAs an option, the added bulbous bow will help optimize the performance.

For boater who average dock the boat or on hook 50% of the time, under power in coastal waters or traveling to the islands 40% of the time and crossing ocean 10% of the time, the Symbol 48’ Long Range Classic Pilothouse is the ideal boat as boaters will be able to live comfortably and travel long distances safely and economically.
